BenOS

Terms of service

Last updated: 3 October 2026

These terms cover your use of the BenOS app and this website. BenOS is made by Ben Galbraith ("we"). By installing or using BenOS, you agree to them.

Early access

BenOS is an early release, offered free of charge by invitation. It may have bugs, change or stop working, and we may stop offering it at any time. Keep your own copies of anything that matters to you. BenOS copies your data, but it isn't a backup of the services it reads from.

Your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use BenOS on Macs you own or control, for your own use. Don't redistribute, resell or reverse engineer it, except where the law lets you regardless of these terms.

Your data and your accounts

Your agent

BenOS lets an AI agent you choose read your library and, when you allow it, make changes in services such as Gmail and Google Calendar on your behalf. You're responsible for the agents you connect and for the changes they make. BenOS records those changes and asks for your approval before ones that can't be undone, but AI agents make mistakes: review what they do.

No warranty

BenOS is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of BenOS. Our total liability for anything relating to BenOS is limited to £50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Ending

You can stop using BenOS at any time by deleting the app and its benos folder. We may end your licence if you break these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll update the date at the top and say so in the release notes. Continuing to use BenOS after a change means you accept it.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
